The Women in Energy Awards celebrate achievements and contributions of exceptional women leaders, and recognise younger talent within the Egypt, North Africa, and Mediterranean energy sectors. The Awards also acknowledge energy companies that are fostering inclusion and championing diversity within the workplace.
Returning for the third edition, the Women in Energy Awards are led by a high-level and unbiased Regional Select Jury of industry experts and academics, and fully supported by the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum & Mineral Resources.

WHO CAN SUBMIT AN ENTRY?
- Senior female professionals from Egypt, North Africa, and the Mediterranean region with 10+ years of work experience in the energy sector
- The nominee must be in a position of seniority for at least two years
- Individuals working within a company’s technical and non-technical functions can submit
- Entries can be made by the individual directly. Colleagues, peers or company representatives may also submit an entry on behalf of the individua
- Companies may nominate more than one employee/individual in this category

- Originality and quality of the entry (10%)
While Women in Energy Awards highlight professional and personal achievements, this evaluation criteria is all about how original your entry is. How are you presenting your story? It doesn’t have to be different from everyone else. You have to present it in a unique way.
- Measurable achievements and significant indicators of progress (30%)
Please highlight professional achievements within your career. Examples include starting a new business vertical, successfully leading an acquisition, created processes to further enhance productivity in the field, etc. Personal achievements may be included
- Mentorship initiatives (20%)
Please highlight the initiatives you’ve pioneered and led within and outside of your organisation to be an effective role model to the younger women around you. These initiatives can be within or outside of the energy sector, and can include paid and voluntary mentorship initiatives
- Innovation (20%)
Please highlight how you have innovated within your role. Examples include creating/introducing a new technology or process to the business that has helped the business save time and money; thought of and implemented an out of the box idea that helped transform your division/project, amongst others
- Professional skills and job know-how (20%)
Successfully demonstrated professional skills and job know-how, and has taken substantial effort in continuously upgrading this knowledge. This can include information on courses undertaken, and articles and publications authored. Please note, this is not restricted to technical field know-how only. This can include your learning and development within your job function as HR, finance, administration, IT, engineering, and daily operational processes
- Cover Letter (Mandatory)
The entry must include a cover letter summarising why the individual has been nominated. The cover letter must be personalised, and must articulate the nominee’s journey and story. The cover letter must include information on:
Demonstrated leadership skills including but not limited to initiatives taken to improve internal processes and business performance and processes; enhanced client and stakeholder management; value added to projects, and steps taken to contribute to the growth of the business

WHO CAN SUBMIT AN ENTRY?
- Energy companies based in Egypt, North Africa and the Mediterranean region with active operations for at least three years in the region where they are submitting from
- Nominations can be submitted by NOCs, IOCs, service providers, OEMs, renewable energy producer, refineries and petrochemical companies, technology and solution providers, government sector, and any business working within the energy sector
- Nominations to be submitted by a company representative. One company can enter one nomination only
- Joint ventures, subsidiaries, merged and/or acquired companies with separate brand presence from the parent company, and separate inclusion and diversity initiatives may submit a separate entry
- Please do not submit your nominations more than once. If multiple entries are received, the most recent entry will be considered and older entries will be deleted
- Previous award winners and finalists are eligible to submit their entries for this year’s awards
- Companies represented on the Regional Select Jury may submit their entries for this category
- Originality and quality of the entry (20%)
This evaluation criterion is all about how original your entry is. How are you presenting your company’s journey in achieving your inclusion and diversity goals? It doesn’t have to be different from everyone else. You have to present it in a unique way.
- Measurable achievements and significant indicators of progress (50%)
Measurable achievements and impact of initiatives taken by the business to foster inclusion and diversity. Examples include but not limited to bridging the gender and wage gap; flexibility programmes offered to working women and mothers; initiatives taken to get more female engineers in the field; programmes launched and run successfully to include people with disabilities in the business; hiring of ethnic minorities and refugees, amongst others. Please ensure you highlight the progress made within the business after starting the initiatives. Initiatives will be evaluated based on implementation and impact of the initiatives. The aim is quality rather than quantity
- Innovation (30%)
Please highlight how your inclusion and diversity initiatives are innovative and different from other companies. Initiatives highlighted must be implemented at a regional level within Egypt, North Africa, and the Mediterranean
- Cover Letter (Mandatory)
The entry must include a cover letter summarising why the organisation is submitting an entry for this award category. The cover letter must be 1000 words or less, personalised, and must articulate the business’ journey and story in achieving inclusion and diversity. The cover letter must include information on key initiatives taken to promote inclusion and diversity, including but not limited to:
- Establishment and/or successful running of In-house Women’s Networks
- Initiatives taken to hire more women in departments and teams
- Initiatives taken to promote ethnic diversity including hiring of minorities, people with disabilities, and refugees
- Initiatives taken to mentor and advance women in their roles, progressing their career within the business
- Initiatives taken to close the pay gap between genders
- Initiatives taken to bring women back into the workforce post career breaks
