Global Manager of Business Development - Downstream and Chemicals
Melissa Jones is the Marketing & Business Development Operations Manager for Bechtel’s Downstream and Chemicals business line within the company’s Oil, Gas and Chemicals business. In this role, Melissa is accountable for growth of the Olefins, Refining, and Onshore Oil and Gas global market segments for Bechtel.
Melissa began her career working in project controls at Canada’s largest refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick. In the almost 20 years since then, Melissa has developed extensive experience in megaproject development and execution by working in a variety of leadership roles, including commercial management, community and stakeholder engagement, project controls, procurement and contracts, and prime contract management on major Oil & Gas, Power, and Infrastructure projects. Melissa has also worked as part of Bechtel’s Corporate Finance functions, notably as the Chief Financial Officer for Bechtel’s Power business from 2013-2015.
A diversity and sustainability champion, Melissa focuses on local talent development and amplifying community investment through creation of partnerships with local contractors. Melissa’s work on global projects, and her own experience as a local hire, has enabled her to see the cascading positive impact of providing talented men and women a pathway to grow careers by working on Bechtel’s global projects.
Melissa’s work has also included supporting the company’s Women@Bechtel global chapters and creating connections between her colleagues and their peers within the Oil and Gas industry.
Melissa has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick and currently resides in Houston, Texas, with her husband, Mark and son, Ryan.
